Thursday the 13th of August 2009 was just another day...or so Elly thought! This day was to be very special for cancer survivor Elly! It all started at 12 o'clock in the afternoon, with a knock on the door. There she received the delivery of a single rose; the first of her cryptic clues! 1pm arrived and another knock on the door; more flowers and more clues to what this special lady had in store.
On the hour every hour until 4pm, Elly was showered with flowers and was becoming quite fond of the delivery man! Still no wiser as to what was in store and in a state of confusion, she was asked to open a gift which revealed a gorgeous outfit and earrings. The enclosed note instructed her to change into it because her "chariot" would be arriving very soon to whisk her away for a magical evening that she would long remember.
5pm and it was all happening; limo out front and her family dressed to the nines - with the pop of a champagne cork we were off. "What's happening? What's going on?" Elly kept asking as she sipped on the bubbly! Our first destination was dinner at Shiki at the Hyatt where, upon arrival, she was greeted by her future son-in-law, Justin. He had flown in from Melbourne especially for the night to surprise her. And surprised she was! Elly hugged him tightly then asked (for the hundredth time!) "What's going on?" Clinging tightly to Justin’s arm she was led into the hotel and instructed to relax and enjoy the meal with her special family.
Elly being Elly, knew there was no point arguing with her daughter Olivia and followed instructions given to her to a T. Elly marveled at our teppenyaki chef's amazing cooking skills and enjoyed her meal but still looked very puzzled.
After dinner the limo was back to collect us for the next stage of our mystery magical night. Arriving at a concert venue and none the wiser Elly was elated to discover she was going to see some magic of her own and be seated Front Row of the David Copperfield show. But the best was yet to come...not only was she "Front Row" but Elly was going to meet David Copperfield after the show!
She could barely contain her happiness as tears sprung to her eyes. A hug and some photos later and we were back in the limo with Elly excitedly talking about what a fabulous time she was having, unaware that it STILL wasn't over. Thinking we were heading home Elly was surprised to find herself back at the Hyatt and ousted from the limo with instructions to enjoy her night at the five star hotel.
“What a night Elly had; so many emotions, so much love and lots of laughter and all thanks to a wonderful organization called FRONT ROW FOUNDATION who really knows how to make somebody feel very special and very loved!” Ellys’ family
