Michelle's Front Row experience at a Wicked Musical

altOctober 15, 2008 – Wheeling, IL – On Tuesday, October 14, 2008, Carey Smolensky, president of Carey Smolensky Productions and Mobile Music Interactive Entertainment in Wheeling, partnered with the Front Row Foundation, a non profit organization that puts people braving critical health challenges in the front row of concerts, sporting events and live theater, to bring the thrill and excitement of “WICKED-The Musical” to thirteen-year-old Michelle Rappaport of Buffalo Grove. Michelle is battling the rare genetic disorder Familial Dysautonomia. Smolensky treated Michelle and her family to a day that will be treasured and remembered forever.

The day began as Michelle, her nine-year-old sister Jessica and her parents, Barrie and Rick, were surprised at their home by Smolensky in a black stretch limousine that transported them to Wildfire Steaks, Chops & Seafood in Lincolnshire for a complimentary lunch hosted by the restaurant. After lunch, the entourage was whisked to the Oriental theater, where they took part in the “Behind the Emerald Curtain Tour”, followed by complimentary pre-show refreshments hosted next door to the theater by Argo Tea Café. The magic continued back at the theater, where the family was pampered with VIP suite service before enjoying the performance of “WICKED” in the front row. There was one last surprise in store for the family as they took part in an exclusive Meet-And-Greet with the Principal Actors from the Company, taking photos with them, visiting their dressing rooms and even trying on some of their costumes.

“The evening was unbelievable, it was beyond anything we could have imagined” said Barrie Rappaport, Michelle’s mom. “It was magical-the people from the cast were fantastic, just so giving, and we were so surprised that all four leads came out to meet Michelle. To say thank you to Carey and his team of event planners is an understatement: he gave us peace of mind and allowed us all the chance to relax and enjoy. The day was wonderful, not just for Michelle, but for the entire family. I was left speechless, and I know Michelle will always be thankful to Carey for giving her such an awesome experience.”

“The look of amazement on Michelle’s face was priceless as she experienced the magic of “WICKED” only 10 feet from the stage,” said Smolensky. “For one incredible day, we were able to ease the pain and struggle of her illness and just let her be a normal teenager. That’s why I am proud to be part of the Front Row Foundation, for the chance to grant someone’s dream of seeing live theater, but in the front row so that they are practically part of the performance. To experience that kind of thrill through the eyes of such a special individual was just amazing!”
