On April 25, 2009, 28 year old Mike Boyd got a chance to sit up on the Green Monster at Fenway Park to watch the Boston Red Sox take on the New York Yankees in the front row!  Mike was with some of his great childhood friends; Jamie, Brendan, Dave Adam and Chris all of whom grew up together in Reading, MA.

Event Coordinators of Mike, Katherine Otway and Chris Cuffe put together a special day of events and treats for their friend Mike!  The day began in Reading when a stretch Hummer limousine picked up the crew of 6 and drove them into Boston for lunch at one of the finest steak houses in the city, Abe and Louie’s Restaurant.  When Joe the limo driver, dropped Mike and his friends off on Boylston St. it was the nicest day of the year at 80 degrees and without a cloud in the sky!

    Mike and crew were greeted by Jerry the Maitre D and were seated at the nicest table in the restaurant right where the patio meets the inside tables.  The foot traffic was constant as they were overlooking one of Boston’s busiest streets.  The waiter Joe asked them if they liked shellfish, and then proceeded to bring out a raw bar platter on the house!  Most of the group had not eaten the platter’s contents so they had some great laughs trying the Oysters, Crab, Shrimp and Clams.  Everyone ordered some form of their famous steak and after dinner the group was surprised with a complimentary dessert platter before heading to the park.

    Mike didn’t know where the seats were until he got to the park and everyone was very excited when they learned that they would be watching the Red Sox take on the Yankees in the front row of the famous Green Monstah!   It turned out to be one of the longest 9 inning games ever, at over 4 ½ hours, so there was plenty of time to enjoy it.  The Red Sox came out victorious and they got the chance to see young superstar pitcher, Jonathon Papelbon come in and seal the deal.

    It turned out to be a beautiful day and everyone had a blast, especially Mike!  The best part was seeing Mike enjoying the game and everything that came along with his special day.  Mike is the toughest and strongest willed person I have ever met and he will fight forever, knowing that his childhood friends will be there for him every step of the way.
