Tyler’s Front Row Experience: San Franciso 49ers vs Dallas Cowboys
Illness: Neurofibromatosis Type 1
Date: October 22, 2017
Meet Tyler Neppl.
He is an amazing boy with spunk and seriously loves his 49ers.
Tyler is a son, brother, and friend who is very kind and funny! He gets up everyday with a positive attitude despite his setbacks.
Tyler was diagnosed with Nerofibromatosis Type 1 (NF) at 9 months old. He had a plexiform neurofibroma that was causing facial disfigurement. His parents took him to an ophthalmologist who quickly ordered an MRI and a CT scan and they confirmed NF. Tyler has known about his NF his whole life. NF is a game changer for sure!
Tyler has seen so many doctors in his short lifetime. He also misses school frequently because of Doctor appointments.
His parents Shaun and Heather are constantly keeping an eye out for new symptoms.
Along with doctor visits Tyler’s family frequently do fundraising along with raising awareness of NF. Fundraising for NF will provide critical funding that will allow for treatments, clinical trials and ultimately will fund the research to find a cure.
Tyler currently has 8 tumors; 6 in the brain and orbit, one on his chest and a large plexiform on his leg that causes severe pain. Other symptoms are migraines, pain and throbbing an also itching. He has had 2 years of chemo and is waiting to start again.
Right now his tumors are all stable however that can change at any point. His vision is most important as he is at high risk for going blind.
The future is rather unstable for the family. It’s hard to make big plans when there could be potential doctor visits in the future. Right now it’s wait and see. Tyler has weekly as well as monthly doctor appointments, MRI’s, CT Scans eye appointments. NF can feel like a big weight on your shoulders, but even with that Tyler gets up every day ready to tackle the day. He raises awareness by wearing his NF shirts. He has also participated in a golf benefit in MT and Iron Butt 4 NF. The fact that he has endured pain, injections, disfigurement, school problems and upcoming surgeries while maintaining his upbeat personality makes him a hero!
Tyler and his family heard about Front Row Foundation from other friends who had been given a Front Row Experience.
Tyler’s ultimate dream event is going to a San Francisco 49ers Home Game!
Tyler has gone to a 49ers away game before and loves to meet the players. He has always wanted to go to a 49ers HOME game! He has special NF wristbands that he likes to hand out to players. Sometimes the players will exchange wristbands with him and he has quite the collection. Tyler is passionate in ways that he follows all the players, prays for them at night and wears wristbands that he has been given from some of them. He is afraid of going blind and wanted to see them up close and in person in their stadium.
When Front Row learned about Tyler’s love for the San Francisco 49ers the Event Directors Bex and Joreen got right to work to plan this amazing event for him. Bex reached out to Shaun, Tyler’s Dad, to make Tyler’s Front Row Experience come true! Shaun surprised Tyler with a pizza with 49ers Plates and Napkins! Tyler opened up the box and inside the lid was the letter from Bex telling him that he was going to a 49ers game of his dreams! Tyler was so shocked and excited! Check out his reaction here – Surprise unveil-
The week before the event Bex and Joreen sent Tyler and his Dad a care package! They received some Front Row T-shirts to get this party started!
The day before the game Tyler and his Dad Shaun flew in from Illinois and Bex and Joreen flew in from NY to San Francisco. Everyone met at the airport and quickly became friends while getting to their Uber. They all stayed at the Avatar Hotel in Santa Clara, CA. After checking in to the hotel Tyler and Dad spent the afternoon swimming and then went to grab some dinner. Bex and Joreen’s room was right near the pool and they could see them having a nice relaxing afternoon! Everyone got themselves a good nights rest for the big day!
In the morning Tyler and Dad went to Ihop for breakfast and Tyler had a large stack of pancakes! According to Dad, Tyler definitely fueled up for the big day.
Bex & Joreen showed up at Tyler’s room shortly after breakfast with a few Front Row Gift bags filled with more surprises! It was time for an interview and GIFTS for the 49ers #1 fan! Learnig about everything that Tyler has been through since he was only just a baby reminded us even more what a brave boy Tyler has been!
Time for Gifts!!! Front Row surprised Tyler with a Jersey and baseball cap! The crazy thing was only about a week before the big game Tyler’s favorite player was traded! Tyler still loved his new jersey and hat even though the back says Bowman! Tyler opened a few more fun gifts… Avengers neckpillow for the flight back home along with a travel game, Middle School Book, movie and Buffalo Wild Wings gift card!
It was now time to go to the game! Shaun, Tyler , Bex & Joreen headed out through the lobby of the hotel. In the parking lot there was a shiny black limo waiting for them. After some Front Row photos outside of the limo everyone got in to head to the big game. They were off and ready for the Best Day Ever. \o/
They drove less than a mile away to Levi Stadium to watch the 49er’s vs the Cowboys! Tyler is NOT fond of the Cowboys! A win today would have been a bonus on this very special day! The Limo dropped them off across the street and they headed towards the stadium. It was a beautiful warm sunny day and no better place in the world to be!
They went in with their digital tickets. This was a special game and the first 100 people were given free tshirts for Dwight Clark Day! They grabbed some drinks and were on the lookout for popcorn for Tyler. They stopped at the store and picked up a bag for Tyler to carry his things in.
Levi’s stadium was brewing with Red and Blue, you could definitely feel the excitement for the game. The view of the stadium was simply awesome. This place is huge! Shaun led the way their amazing seats. Front Row, section 112, Row 4, seats 7,8,9,10. Wow! It may have said 4th row but this was most definitely the first row in that section! Only the best for Front Row’s newest family member!
They weren’t there long before they started to walk in the American Flag for the Anthem! Then the flames were lit and the players were called in. GAME TIME!
The 49ers fought hard but just couldn’t catch a break this game! Tyler had the time of his life regardless; even though a win would have been the cherry on top of a perfect day!
During the game they ate some great food and found Tyler his popcorn. Tyler was definitely a happy boy and enjoyed every second of this game!
Next stop BJ’s Brewhouse, San Jose, CA. Our table was waiting for us upon our arrival. The Best day ever ends with the Best Beginnings Appetizer Combo which had everything they could want! Tyler wanted Grill Cheese and fries and it was made to order! Most definitely couldn’t leave without dessert… and Tyler ordered Strawberry Shortcake! The team at BJ’s Brewhouse treated the 4 of us to dinner! That was certainly a welcome surprise! Thank you!!! \o/
We loaded back up into our limo and headed to our next hotel, The Embassy Suites, San Francisco. Early flights in the morning made it wiser to get closer to the airport for our final night in California!
What a super, amazing day! Tyler didn’t stop smiling all day long! We had a short interview upon our arrival to the hotel and then it was time to say goodbye. We ended the day with big hugs all around and well wishes for a safe flight!
You are a sweet, funny little guy. We just love talking with you! We are so grateful we got to spend your special day with you and and your Dad, Shaun. We had so much fun meeting you and watching the game with you! Keep Living Life in the Front Row – It’s a Forever Thing! \o/
